Welcome to HSUMC's Youth Page!
We are excited to tell you about the amazing things Jesus is doing with and among our youth. God calls us to be in community so that we grow together in grace as we worship, pray, have fun, serve and share our joys and our struggles. All youth are welcome to be part of the HSUMC youth group.
Below you will find some of our yearly scheduled programming. On the side, we have updated news and events. Be sure to sign up for our email updates and check us out online with our Student Instagram!
Youth Programming
United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF): this is Sunday night fellowship for youth to enjoy games, snacks, and lessons. Youth meet inside and outside on the first and third Sundays from 4-5:30pm.
Sunday School: youth meet on the first Sunday morning of the month from 9:00 to 9:45 to explore scripture and life. Middle school and high school are currently meeting together in room 7,
Confirmation: for middle school students, confirmation is a class for youth to learn more about the Christian faith and the United Methodist Church by exploring Scripture, Methodist doctrine and theology alongside their friends. Upon confirmation completion, youth will join the church as professing members.
Pilgrimage: the second weekend in November each year, middle and high school youth attend our Methodist conference's largest youth gathering with students from all over eastern NC. Pilgrimage is held in Fayetteville, NC. Youth experience worship, testimonies, service work, and messages.
Summer Mission Trip: for the past five years, HSUMC youth grades 9-12 have attended Appalachia Service Project (ASP) to help individuals and families in need of home repairs. Each summer youth go to a different location in Appalachia for a week to serve.
Middle School Mission Day: our middle school students spend one summer day doing mission work right here in Wake County helping and loving our neighbors in need. Service projects vary but the experience of serving others and spreading the love of Jesus is always amazing.
Events: throughout the church calendar, youth will participate in various youth events. These include events such as bowling, church lock-ins, local missions, worship events, campouts, and house parties.
